Collage Revisited

2012-2018

2012

Recently, I've been playing some with photographing collages and other older work with my iPad and reworking them using various apps. This collage, made in 2012, was going to be part of a larger series of faces covered by amorphous shapes cut from wallpaper. While I liked the results, I really didn't know why I was making these back then (and still don't), so I made two of them and moved on to other things. I like the reworked version quite a bit, although I still don't have any thoughts about content. Not all art has to mean something, does it?

Western Culture

Western Culture
digital collage, 2015

I made this one a couple of years ago at a time when I was making a lot of digital collage work. I kind of drifted away from digital collage, and from hand made collage as well, but lately have been making both again. The background image is a photo I shot in Richmond, British Colombia a few years ago, manipulated using scanography.
